Literature Text

As I ride into the night,
I feel as though there is no cause for fright.
My horse and I
Are as one.
As we ride away from the setting sun.
The dark begins to grow,
The light soon fades.
My beloved horse,
My noble steed,
The wolves chill howl
We do not heed.
With the wind in my face,
And the moon on my back.
The mornings' new rays
Pierce the threatening black.
As we ride into the day,
We feel nothing will get in our way.
My horse and I,
Are as one.
As we ride toward the sun.
I wrote this poem after going for a ride with my pony, Chase. I've had it published, and it's really the only decent poem I've ever written I think.
